01 Ott 08 Rilasciata Maemo SDK 4.1.1

Rilasciata la nuova SDK 4.1.1 di Maemo, è consigliato quindi l’aggiornamento da parte degli sviluppatori di applicazioni per i dispositivi mobili che utilizzano Maemo. L’aggiornamento si riferisce alla versione OS2008 versione 4.2008.36-5.

Riporto comunque l’annuncio ufficiale:

Maemo SDK 4.1.1 has been released. Developers are encouraged to update their sources or install it in order to obtain the development environment for the latest OS2008 version 4.2008.36-5. Check the SDK 4.1.1 page for release notes and additional details.

24 Giu 08 Rilasciato Maemo OS2008 Diablo! Aggiorniamo i nostri Nokia Tablet

Buone notizie per tutti gli utenti Maemo .. e possessori di Nokia internet Tablet in particolare per gli n800 e n810. Oggi è stato rilasciata la nuova versione del sistema operativo siamo alla versione 4.1 battezzata con nome “Diablo”.

ecco l’annuncio ufficiale di Maemo.org:

Nokia has published the OS2008 Feature Upgrade for the N810 and N800 Internet Tablets. This release is based on Maemo 4.1 (codename Diablo) and provides the Seamless Software Update feature.

Users still need to reflash the device in order to install this release. Further OS updates will be made available over-the-air, without needing to reflash. Now users will get automatic notifications in the home screen about the availability of OS updates or single applications, including those installed from third parties. This works only over WLAN connections. It is still possible to check for updates manually from the Application manager.

This release brings a new open source email application based on Modest and the tinymail framework. Users will find a simplified account setup and presets for various service providers. Another major improvement is the introduction to Chinese character rendering support in Email, Browser and RSS feed reader. There are numerous issues fixed all over the operating system including updated openssl. Smaller improvements have also been introduced to several areas such improved browser panning performance.

19 Mar 08 USB OTG con webcam esterna per Maemo OS2008

Il nuovo applicativo/plugin USB OTG per maemo OS2008 inizia a sviluppare e a far vedere la propria potenza. nel video che vi propongo grazie al plugin che vi ho appena menzionato è possibile utilizzare una webcam esterna. Per utilizzare i flussi video si usa mplayer e v4l. Ora vediamo prima in dettaglio che bisogna fare per utilizzare la webcam e poi vi lascio al video ..

Allora dovete installare la versione Mplayer che ho inserito sopra .. poi bisogna procedere con l’inserimento del modulo della vostra webcam, quella nel test è una creative che utilizza un modulo ov511 ma anche altri moduli sono presenti nel file Kernel Modules (che trovate sopra) quindi procediamo con dopo aver installato i file :

insmod ov511.ko

Mplayer deve avvianre un nuovo video device con il comando:

mplayer-v4l -cache 128 -tv
driver=v4l:width=420:height=240:outfmt=i420:device=/dev/video1 -vc
rawi420 -vo xv tv://

14 Mar 08 Supporto rotazione schermo OS2008

Si è parlato molto in questi giorno del nuovo supporto di rotazione dello schermo per la nuova versione del sistema operativo OS2008 di Maemo. Infatti tramite semplici passaggi è possibile testare o installare il supporto rotazione.

La rotazione può essere applicata anche ad altri device ma dal devono essere comunque compatibili alla funzione i componenti hardware (schermo LCD) . Per utilizzare la rotazione cbisogna apportare delle modifiche al kernel (modified kernel). Per prima cosa comunque prima di effettuare il flashing potete provare a bootare il nuovo kernel( boot the kernel ) per testare il la compatibilità e in un secondo tempo flashiare:

flasher --load --boot --kernel kernel-rx-34_2.6.21.0-osso71-randr

Se tutto va bene è il vostro device è compatibile possiamo eseguire il flashing:

flasher -f -k kernel-rx-34_2.6.21.0-osso71-randr

Dobbiamo inoltre apportare delle modifiche a Xomap. Ti suggeriamo inoltre di seguire questa installazione automatica (automatic install). Questa installerà libxrandr e l’applet della statusbar. Poi bisogna aggiornare manualmente (manually) Xomap.

27 Feb 08 Bluetooth PAN su maemo

Finalmente anche su Maemo è possibile attivare e utilizzare nativamente il Bluetooth PAN per interagire con gli smartphone windows mobile. Il Plugin da utilizzare è maemo-pan add-on (che è compatibile per ora solo con OS2008). E con pochi passi spiega Martin Grimme è possibile utilizzarlo :

• Go to the system preferences and add your phone in the phone settings. Do not enter the wizard for configuring the dialup settings. PAN does not use them.
• Start internet sharing on your phone. It depends on your phone how and where to do this. On Windows Mobile 5, open the Start menu and select “internet connection sharing” from there.
• Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your internet tablet. Now open the connection dialog and you will see that there is a new connection called “Bluetooth-PAN”. Select it and you will be connected to the internet via PAN.
• When you’re finished, just close the connection the usual way. Wasn’t this easy?

26 Feb 08 Maemo Eclipse Integration v0.9 (Beta)

 

Maemo ha annunciato con grande soddisfazione di aver rilasciato la prima beta release dei plugin di maemo per eclipse. Un altro passo in avanti nell’integrazione di maemo e della sua piattaforma nel noto IDE di sviluppo openSource. Questa release è stata rilasciata dice maemo per consentire alla community di testare il software creato a avere dei consigli e delle correzioni da parte degli utenti prima di rilasciare la versione finale 1.0

E’ stata rilasciata la nuova versione di Maemo SDK VMware Image rispetto alla versione 0.4 ci sono parecchie modifiche

* Increased virtual disk size, by popular demand.

Informo tutti i possessori di Nokia n810 e n800 che è stata rilasciata la nuova versione del software maemo OS 2008 2.2007.51-3
Chi volesse effettuare l’aggionamento può procedere :

- da windows potete usare il wizard grafico Nokia Internet Tablet Software Update Wizard

- da Linux e da MacOSX invece bisogna utilizzare i flasher in dotazione nel repository dei firmware adatti al nostro sistema operativo.

Per effettuare il download del nuovo firmware : N810 - N800
